“The development of high value-added industries is a direct benefit for the residents of Ventspils – it creates quality jobs, increases income, and strengthens quality of life. The electronics industry in Ventspils is already a significant pillar of the economy, covering a wide spectrum – from industrial electronics and component manufacturing to sensors, prototyping, and specialized devices. The most notable companies in the sector are HansaMatrix Ventspils, Azeron, and Aspired. The development of the industry is driven by close cooperation between businesses and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and Ventspils Technical School, strengthening the link between education, innovation, and the development of necessary skills. According to 2025 data, the largest companies in the sector in Ventspils employ more than 300 workers and generate nearly 500 thousand euros in tax revenue annually. The electronics industry creates highly qualified jobs, is export-capable, and promotes the development of engineering competencies and innovation. The planned cooperation with LETERA will enable even more targeted development of this sector, strengthening company competitiveness, exports, and the availability of a qualified workforce. The municipality will also provide support for attracting qualified labor, including addressing housing issues for company employees, as well as promoting cooperation with educational institutions by developing a modern skill environment aligned with labor market needs. The event was attended by LETERA Chairman of the Board Normunds Bergs, LETERA Executive Director Inese Berga, and the Chairman of the Ventspils State City Council Jānis Vītoliņš.
