Municipality Expands Support for Entrepreneurs: New Procedure for Covering Premises Rent from 2026

Ventspils State City Municipality City Council has approved binding regulations on support for covering the rent of business premises. The regulations provide for the continuation of existing support for covering office rent in the high-technology sector, as well as a new support scheme for covering premises rent for organisers of entertainment and artistic events in the historic centre of Ventspils.

​Entrepreneurs may apply for differentiated support for office space rent:
Companies operating in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector – up to EUR 3.50/m² per month;
Companies in other sectors – up to EUR 1.75/m² per month.
Entrepreneurs who, after the first support period, have increased the number of employees in Ventspils will have the opportunity to apply for repeated support of EUR 1.75/m².
The binding regulations also introduce a new type of support – covering the rent of premises for organising entertainment and artistic events. This support is available to businesses that:
operate in the historic centre of Ventspils (the Old Town or Ostgals area);
organise at least one public event per month;
attract at least 100 visitors per event.
The support available for this purpose is up to EUR 3.50/m² per month.
Support from Ventspils State City Municipality is granted as de minimis aid, following the evaluation of the entrepreneur’s application and a formal decision. To receive support, applicants must meet the following criteria:
The company must not have tax debts exceeding EUR 150;
The office premises must not be subleased.
Applications for rent support must be submitted to the Administration of Ventspils State City Municipality:
in paper form to the Administrative Department (Room 41), Jūras Street 36, Ventspils, or electronically, signed with a secure electronic signature and sent to [email protected].
