Ventspils Municipality Selected for the Council of Europe’s Artificial Intelligence Academy!

​We are proud to announce that the Ventspils State City Municipality, in cooperation with the Ventspils Education Authority, has been selected to participate in the prestigious HUDERIA Local Academy programme.

​Out of more than 80 applications submitted by municipalities from across Europe, only 21 municipalities from 19 countries were selected. Ventspils will represent Latvia in this distinguished programme.
The HUDERIA Local Academy is an initiative of the Council of Europe, implemented in cooperation with the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence, the Alan Turing Institute. Its objective is to support European municipalities in adopting and developing artificial intelligence solutions in a safe, ethical, transparent, and accountable manner by promoting European best practices and strengthening trustworthy AI governance.
Participants will work alongside experts from the Council of Europe and the Alan Turing Institute, gaining practical knowledge of internationally recognised methodologies for assessing AI-related risks, data protection, and security. They will also take part in online working sessions and international workshops in Paris, where they will exchange experience with municipalities from across Europe and develop practical solutions for the responsible implementation of AI.

This achievement demonstrates that Latvian municipalities are fully capable of competing at the European level and becoming valuable partners in advancing the safe, responsible, and trustworthy deployment of artificial intelligence.
