On March 25–26, 2026, Ventspils Technical School hosted a partner meeting of the European Commission co-funded four-year project “AutoCove 2.0,” bringing together 16 participants from seven European countries – Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
The “AutoCove 2.0” project focuses on modernizing vocational education by adapting it to the rapidly evolving demands of the automotive sector, particularly in the fields of electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

On the first day of the meeting, thematic working sessions were held on the development of study content, professional development for teachers, mobility activities, and the practical application of solutions developed during the project in education. Participants discussed innovations in education, assessed the progress made so far, and outlined future development directions.
On the second day, attention was devoted to the next stages of the project’s development, including participation in international exhibitions and collaboration activities.
During the visit, participants explored both the city of Ventspils and local companies, including Bucher Municipal and the science and education center – the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre. As part of the project’s cultural program, the technical school also offered partners the opportunity to watch the award-winning Latvian animated film “Flow,” while future tourism specialists from the school provided guests with a tour and interesting facts about the city of Ventspils.
The automotive industry in Europe employs more than 14 million people, and its transition toward more environmentally friendly solutions requires significant changes in education. The “AutoCove 2.0” project helps reduce the skills gap by developing modern, innovation-based learning content and strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and industry.
At the same time, the project promotes inclusive education and international mobility, offering opportunities for both students and teachers to develop skills in real working environments across different European countries.
Within the framework of the “AutoCove 2.0” project, Ventspils Technical School has acquired a modern training stand for electric and hybrid vehicles, providing students with the opportunity to gain practical skills in working with the latest automotive technologies and meeting current industry requirements.
