The ice-free, deep-water (17 m) Ventspils port serves as a TEN-T base for delivery of goods in the northern part of the European Union. Ventspils is a strategic transit connection point between East and West. The technical parameters of the port provide that it is possible to serve the largest vessels that enter the Baltic Sea throughout the whole year. The port is multi-modal and can be used for any freight – oil products, chemicals, potassium salt, coal, grain, general cargoes, as well as containerized and Ro-Ro cargoes.
Ventspils is a significant Ro-Ro transportation center with daily calls to port of Nynashamn, Sweden (Stena Line, Ro-Pax). Ventspils container terminal provides possibility to transship containers. It has container capacity 150 000 TEU and crane lifting capacity 100 t. 83 active companies work in logistics, port operations and services, with 1850 employees, total turnover – more than 170 million EUR. |
