For Ventspils University of Applied Sciences the scientific work and research has been one of the main activities since it was founded in 1997, 25 years ago. University and its structural units have been involved in the implementation of more than 50 important science, research and infrastructure development projects. Using the opportunity to attract external funding, university provides favorable conditions for scientific activity – installation of new laboratories with modern equipment.​

innovative technology tools for education and business

Research projects have resulted in several technology tools that are being used by students of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and Ventspils Vocational Technical School.
 
Ventspils University of Applied Sciences:

• Digital classroom – with network (IP) cameras with very high resolution quality that enable enabling students and lecturers to follow up on a remote connection.
• A video film studio helping lecturers create video materials for lectures, as well as record courses to be learned remotely.
• Mobile app “VeApp” 

Ventspils Technical Vocational School:

• VR (virtual reality) classroom equipped with “zSpace” technology virtual reality study materials. This is the only equipment of this kind in the Baltics. 

​Ventspils Digital Innovation Hub:
Provides services to promote the competitiveness of regional companies by means of digital technologies. Helps regional companies to become more competitive by improving their business processes, as well as services and products by means of digital technologies.

EUROLCDs and Lightspace Technologies is the largest electronics & optics R&D company in Latvia researching and developing miniature next generation multi-focal image engine for application in near-eye display devices. Company operates in Ventspils High Technology Park and has the largest cleanroom for electronics production in the Baltics.

prototyping opportunities

Ventspils High Technology Park, in cooperation with company Aspired, has established a prototyping workshop in Ventspils, the services of which are currently available to the general public. The aim of the prototyping workshop is to promote development and production of new products and development of business in Ventspils, including in the field of education technologies.
 
Prototyping workshop provides:

• Technical advice for the development and production of prototyping and components, including parts for the development of 3D models;
•  Parts and prototyping.
