Company ARBO Windows manufactures glass units, wooden and wooden-aluminum windows and doors.  Since 2014, the company produces its goods in Ventspils, in modern premises specially adjusted to company’s manufacturing needs. The company’s mission is to  produce outstanding, high-demand products with a unique look and a well-considered technical solution. The company  provides its production to clients both in Latvia and other countries, cooperating with large construction companies. 80% of the production is being exported. The production team consists of dedicated, experienced and qualified wood working and manufacturing specialists. ARBO windows employs about 100 people from Ventspils and adjacent territories.

​Location within the territory of Ventspils Free Port and the available infrastructure are some of the competitive advantages of SIA Bio-Venta, if compared to similar producers. Selecting the correct location was essential for realization of the biodiesel plant project — SIA Bio-Venta is in the middle of material flow from the now and thus closer to our target markets in the Baltics and Scandinavia than other biodiesel producers from the Western Europe. Access to port berths and rail and road access ensure one of the major elements in biodiesel production business, i.e. flexible logistics of materials and production.

Company SIA Bio-Venta was founded in 2004, but started production of biodiesel in 2008. Company’s biodiesel production plant is the largest biodiesel production complex in the Baltic countries. The maximum capacity if the plant is 100,000 tons of biodiesel per year. The company also produces feed rapeseed cakes, pharmaceutical grade glycerin and mineral fertilizers. Almost 78 million EUR have been invested in the biodiesel production and transshipment complex in Ventspils. The company employs around 60 people.

Investing and creating a factory in Ventspils has been and is still a success story for Bucher Municipal. I perceive flexibility as a core value of our cooperation, as we have implemented multiple expansion projects together with the city administration and freeport authority within a span of two decades. Good teamwork and collaboration between all three parties have helped us to achieve success and, most importantly, we feel like we are at home. Our journey from a company with few employees to one of the biggest employers in the region would not have been possible without the people who have shaped this story. A story that holds great significance for the whole Bucher Municipal Division. Street cleaning vehicle producer Bucher Municipal SIA is a part of Swiss concern Bucher Industries, founded in 2004. Company is one of largest manufacturing companies in Latvia with 400 employees.
Initially, the company only assembled components (barrels, motors, brushes and other parts), but over time the production process was expanded to include welding, metalworking and surface treatment processes.
Production volumes increased significantly in 2015, when the first assembly line from Switzerland was moved to Latvia. In November 2015, the first compact street sweeper was fully produced in Ventspils. Over the next two years, the transfer of assembly lines from UK and Switzerland continued. As part of the full-cycle production process (from metal sheet to final product), the Ventspils production plant currently produces six models of compact street sweepers. The company also produces electric vehicles, thus keeping up with current market trends.
In 2022, the company received the Latvian Export Leader Award in the competition "Export and Innovation Award 2022", in the group of large companies in the "Smart Energy and Mobility" sector.
In 2023, the latest manufactured product Bucher CityCat VR50e (fully electric street sweeper) received two international awards:
  • German Design Award 2023 in the category «Outstanding product design» (award «Gold») - for excellent, comprehensive and innovative design work.
  • German Innovation Awards 2023 in the category "Excellence in business - automotive technologies" ("Winner" award) - the award denotes innovations that develop the industry with their originality and efficiency.
In 2023, the company's solar park with 1422 solar panels started to operate, with this park approximately 17%-20% of the annual total electricity consumption of the production plant will be covered.
At the end of 2023, the total area of the buildings of SIA "Bucher Municipal" is almost 20,000 m2, while the total area of the territory is approximately 90,000 m2. The company's products are exported to more than 30 countries around the world.
Bucher Municipal SIA continues to develop and is currently working on future development and expansion plans.

One of the reasons for us to choose Ventspils was the special economic zone, which can be found elsewhere in Latvia, too, but an additional argument in favor of the Freeport of Ventspils was the cooperation with and support from the local authorities – the municipality and the Freeport. Our company employs around 200 people, who do their work very well and with high quality. Ventspils is a beautiful city that offers a vast range of leisure time activities to choose from – it can be a concert in the theatre house Sea Gate (Jūras vārti) or skiing on the mountain Lembergs’ Trilby (Lemberga hūte). The city knows the wishes of people.

Diana Candles candle factory in Ventspils started operating in 2004. It is one of the three production units of the parent company Diana Lys Hald that has more than 50 years of experience in producing candles. The company is one of the largest candle manufacturers in Northern Europe, and the factory in Ventspils employs more than 200 people. Approximately 95% of the company’s production is exported to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and other European countries.

The company manufactures about 70 000 tons of pellets a year that are produced only from domestic raw materials.
