Since 2002, when the city took a strategic decision to adopt an industrialization policy aimed at supporting transition from a port-based economy to a multi-sectoral economy, manufacturing sector and its output has grown significantly. Municipality supports investors by providing utilities and public infrastructure necessary for production properties.

Ventspils Municipality together with the Freeport of Ventspils Authority have designated several industrial areas, shaping them by type of activity thus creating industrial and technology clusters. Altogether there are more than 500 ha available for development with land lot sizes varying from 1 to 50 ha. Land lots are connected to base utilities like water, sewer, electricity, IT infrastructure and in some locations to the municipal heating system. |

Ventspils Industrial Park is a national level project aimed to service and boost the uprising green economy in the region.
