INDUSTRIAL AREAS

Ventspils Municipality together with the Freeport of Ventspils Authority have designated several industrial areas, shaping them by type of activity thus creating industrial and technology clusters.
Altogether there are more than 500 ha available for development with land lot sizes varying from 1 to 50 ha. Land lots are connected to base utilities like water, sewer, electricity, IT infrastructure and in some locations to the municipal heating system. In 2002, the city took a strategic decision to adopt an industrialization policy aimed to support the transition from a port-based economy to a multi-sectoral economy. Since then, 18 new factories have started operating in Ventspils, and 50’000 m2 of production buildings have been constructed in Ventspils special economic zone. Production output of the manufacturing industries has increased 50 times. Municipality offers long term land lease contracts for up to 45 years. Contracts can be extended for a further period in case the investor decides to do so. If the investor wants to own the land property, it is possible to acquire property ownership rights.
Each project is being supported individually, taking into consideration the needs of each investor. It is possible to rent an industrial area and construct one’s own premises, or negotiate with the municipality to provide tailor-made premises. Real estate expenses

VENTSPILS AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL AREA

The Ventspils Airport Industrial Area covers 34 ha and is located in the Southern part of Ventspils, next to Ventspils Airport, in 10 minute drive from the port of Ventspils and about 2 hour drive from Riga International Airport.
There are already several manufacturing buildings in the area, and plots of land with utilities (power, water supply, central heating etc.) are available for new manufacturing projects. At present, mechanical engineering, metal processing and polycarbonate producing companies are already located in modern industrial buildings in this area, and another manufacturing building is under construction. |
MARINA INDUSTRIAL AREA

The Marina Industrial Area is 17 ha and is located near Ventspils Marina. It provides opportunity to lease ready or adjustable industrial premises from private developers. Utilities (power connection, water supply, heat supply etc.) are available in this area. The area is located in the Western part of Ventspils, in 10 minute drive from the port of Ventspils and 2 hour drive from Riga International Airport (RIX). Several fish processing, ship repair and metal processing companies work in this area. |
