Ventspils - most business friendly city 2023

Ventspils has been recognized as the winner in the "Most Business Friendly City 2023" category of the competition organized by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Turība Business University, Junior Achievment and the SKDS Research Centre. Ventspils was followed by Jelgava and Jūrmala

"This success is only possible thanks to the high evaluation of Ventspils entrepreneurs, which shows that the work of the municipality to support entrepreneurs has been noticed and appreciated. We hope that this message that Ventspils has the best conditions for entrepreneurship will help attract new investors to our city, including from foreign countries. This is a great honor, but at the same time a great responsibility, which will motivate us to continue to provide the best possible support to Ventspils entrepreneurs. A big thank you to the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its partners for organizing this event. It motivates municipalities to pay more and more attention to supporting entrepreneurship."

The municipalities were evaluated according to a number of criteria: the municipality's response to the entrepreneur's interest in developing business in the region, the municipality's support to educational institutions in implementing entrepreneurship programmes and organizing student training enterprises, the municipality's self-assessment, the entrepreneurs' assessment and the number of registered enterprises in the municipality.
